With the growing awareness about the importance of protein and its many sources, there is now a need to further understand protein knowledge beyond just the source. In other words, superior amino acid profile and amino acid digestibility of soybean meal will tremendously impact the growth and development of animals.
To resolve this, Right To Protein introduces, Soy Fed ‐ the first ever feed label for the animal-protein industry to enable consumers to make better protein choices.
Soybean meal is a key protein source in the diets of livestock, poultry, and aquaculture offering a well-balanced amino acid profile, and high level of digestibility among plant-based protein sources. It is said that the complete nutritional value in soy-fed meals assists in maintaining the animals' well-being.
So, the Soy Fed label will help consumers to identify quality protein products that are fed soybean meal, thereby empowering protein producers to have a differentiator and citizens to make informed decisions when choosing their animal protein sources

“As a pioneer enterprise engaging in a wide-ranging business of poultry feed milling and animal nutrition, providing our customers with the highest quality food choices has always been our top priority. We truly believe that the ‘Soy Fed’ label is going to be a key industry differentiator in aiding awareness about the nutritional benefits of Soy as an animal feed and how that positively impacts the consumer’s health. With growing concerns and consciousness around wellbeing people today are relying on trusted brands like us for transparency and we feel this move will further reassure them of our commitment to their evolving needs.”
Managing Director Srinivasa Farms
“As a leading player in building the Indian poultry industry, we are extremely passionate about food and strongly believe it to be a vehicle for good health and nourishment. While soy feed plays a significant role in the growth and development of animals and helps define the quality of protein consumed by humans, awareness about it remains limited. Hence, introducing the ‘Soy Fed’ label was imperative to bridge the knowledge gap and set a benchmark for quality, and we wanted to play a role in it. We believe that adopting the label further reinforces our commitment to provide quality and affordable nutrition to consumers, which has always been at the core of our existence.”
Director and CEO of Sneha Group
“Food labels have traditionally impacted consumer choice of food, nutrients and farming practices. However, in India food labels have only become crucial in the recent times. We′re happy to be the first adopters of the Soy Fed label - as the first-ever feed label. As a market leader in the whole chain of poultry production, our mission has always been to set a benchmark in the industry as the producer of highest quality products. Keeping in mind the nutritional benefits of soy, we have been incorporating this feed in the food regime of our livestock. We believe that the launch of the label is the right moves to help establish the fact that the product has been fed with high- quality feed, a key distinguisher for animal-protein sources.”
Right to Protein, a nationwide public health initiative, welcomes another renowned industry leader, Srinivasa Farms, to the league of Soy Fed adopters. ‘Soy Fed’ label is India’s first-ever voluntary feed label, launched in 2021 to raise awareness about the role of animal feed in determining the quality of protein consumed.
The voluntary label will feature on Srinivasa Farms’
processed chicken portfolio
and ‘HelloEggs’ brand products soon.

Following the launch of India’s first feed label, ‘Soy Fed’, by Right To Protein, a nationwide public health initiative last year, Shalimar Group, a pioneer in the poultry industry, has joined the league of adopters after Sneha Group.
The voluntary label will feature on the company’s Total Foods range of Tandoori Nuggets and will be gradually integrated into all their poultry products.

D. Varun Reddy, Director and CEO of Sneha Group said, “Food labels have traditionally impacted consumer choice of food, nutrients and farming practices. Taking a step to empower consumers in making informed choices to identify protein-rich livestock and aquaculture products, the #SoyFed label will also help the industry to distinguish soy as a quality protein source for animal feed. “Like humans, livestock and aquaculture also acquire their protein from dietary sources such as soy, that in-turn helps to define the quality of protein humans consume.
Soybean meals are regarded as an ideal feed for livestock and aquaculture because of the nutrition content it contains. The introduction of the ‘Soy Fed' label is an important step of growing awareness around soy-based feed and its role in quality protein consumption and informing consumers that to know your food, you need to know the feed,” stated Jaison John, Lead - India, US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) and Right To Protein supporter.

The ‘Soy Fed’ label is now in the process of reaching out to more retail brands in India for the voluntary inclusion of this label as a part of their packaged protein products - meat, poultry, and fish - to help citizens learn that we are what our food is fed!
Given the many advantages of utilizing soy as animal feed, the Soy Fed label introduced on 30th September, has already been receiving support from various industry leaders and brands, who believe in the power of educating consumers to help them make better nutritional choices.
As the first adopter of the Soy Fed label in India, the Sneha Group is championing not just the cause of driving awareness among consumers but further re-iterating soy feed as high-quality feed by incorporating it in their livestock’s food regime.
“Indian consumers are increasingly looking to make healthier choices. Most of our consumers not only believe that we are what we eat but also agree that we are what our food is fed or made of! Therefore, we choose poultry that is soy fed to prepare high-quality protein meals.
The tailored ‘Soy Fed’ online menu is only the next step to further enable health-conscious consumers to easily choose meals created with soymeal-fed poultry,” Shreh Madan, Owner, Burgrill said.
